| The Crossing
of the Lakes, is a trip that starts in Puerto
Varas, Chile, and arrives in Bariloche, Argentina. It
is a beautiful scenic trip that you travel by bus and
catamaran through the lakes Llanquihue, Todos
los Santos, Frías and Nahuel Huapi. |
|
|
| You will travel
rough, stony and also asphalted roads. It is a beautiful
experience and only who live it are able to appreciate
it in its real magnitude. |

|
|
| The history of
this trip begins when a group of tourists crossed the
Andes Mountain through a border crossing connecting Peulla
(in Chile) with Bariloche (in
Argentina). It is an ecological adventure that you cannot
leave unknown. |
|
|
| The crossing begins
in Puerto Varas. From there the trip
continues toward Petrohué, skirting
the Lake Llanquihue, from where it is
possible to appreciate the imposing views of the volcanoes
Osorno and Calbuco, which dominate the
whole landscape. |
|
|
| You enter to the
National Park Vicente Pérez Rosales
where you can appreciate the jumps of the Petrohué
river, capricious forms of volcanic rock, bathed
by the green-emerald colored river waters. |
|
|
| Then a catamaran
will take you to Peulla, navigating the lake Todos
los Santos. If the climate allows it, new views
of the volcanoes Osorno and Puntiagudo and the Tronador
mountain will surprise you. The catamaran arrives to Peulla,
an Ecological Town. It is a beautiful and gentle place
located in one end of the Lake Todos los Santos (see the
map), close to the frontier with Argentina, on the hillsides
of the Andes: a paradise for nature lovers. |

|
|
| Heading for Puerto
Frías we have to pass through the Chilean
Customs to leave the country and finally to cross the
Andes Mountain range at only 976 meters above sea. The
journey toward Argentina descends a curling road toward
Puerto Frías and continues navigating through the
Frías Lake to Puerto Alegre.
From Puerto Alegre you continue by bus to Puerto Blest
where you can visit the Los Cántaros Cascade. |
|
|
| From Port Blest
you make the last sailing, toward Puerto Pañuelo
through the lake Nahuel Huapi.
In Puerto Pañuelo a bus takes you toward the final
destination of this trip, Bariloche. A city that in winter
and summer fascinates the tourist with its ski centers,
trade, hotels, restaurants and night life. |
|
|
| The landscapes
are startlingly beautiful, mainly if we have the fortune
of a clear day. You will have lunch in the Peulla Hotel.
In that town you will also have the opportunity to arrange
an additional to the Los Cántaros Cascade,
or to the El Encanto Lagoon or to have
a horse back ride and go fishing. |
|
|
| The delighted looks
leave devoured the lacustrine landscape as the catamaran
advances. We wanted that it stayed there forever, to caress
this real ode to the nature that captures us with its
verses of forests and mountains. |
